Sad Young Men

Sad Young Men was a collaboration between Ido Toledano and Daniel Myers. Created throughout the winter of 2024 and premiered at Frankfurt LAB in early 2025, it was a creative response to our growing friendship and conversations we shared around grief and our own healing processes.

The duet began exploring the memories that are stored within our bodies, and how we carry these “ghosts” in flesh, space and time. Using improvisation, repetition and a playlist of nostalgic music, we followed our dance.

As an added layer of connection to those witnessing the duet, we offered the audience the option to come to the stage and change the music in which the dance was unfolding. Throughout the creation weeks, we realised that we desired to free ourselves of needing total control in order to be more honestly and intentionally with what was felt. In offering this channel of choice to the viewers, we not only felt closer to what they viewed in the moment, but also discovered it’s potency in welcoming moments of pure, unstaged surprises.
